Sunrise

Last night we stayed up till 3:30 am to go watch the sunrise. (For those who are unfamiliar with this: in summer sun sets in Finland about 11 pm and, for example as last night, might rise at 4:18 am. In the north of Finland it simply stays up all the time, and in winter in the contrary doesn't rise at all because it's more to the north than the polar circle.) Unfortunately, as we jumped on in our bikes, we could not find a place with no buildings, trees or ugly power lines between the sun and my camera. So there were no amazing pictures taken, but here are three I took that are not exactly under the title.

Anyway, this experience was a learning possibility for me, as I could have planned better and thought about a couple of things before getting the camera and leaving: first to check where the sun rises and second to notice that in that specific direction there are not clear views near of where I live. Or I could have reserved more time to look for one. But let's just learn from our mistakes!

Manifestations

I went to a protest today in Helsinki. It was supposed to be this world wide protest by Chilean people, because they don't have the permission to vote from abroad, which means that more than a million votes are not count when it comes to any kinds of elections in Chile. It was only "supposed to be", because with me and O being there we were four people in the great protest of ours. Luckily there were bigger ones in big cities in other places. And luckily another manifestation appeared, and I could take some pictures to publish here.

I think it's just too easy nowadays click a button or write on your facebook wall about something that's wrong and never do anything more about it. It's great that manifestations are held as I think it's the fastest and most visible and effective way of showing your thoughts about something that is wrong in the world. I would love to see more Finns participating in these things, because it's lame to be in a protest with no people. Been there, done that!

Bad Conscience

Now I really have a bad conscience for not having written for so long. The truth is that I have had no pictures to post! I went to my big brother's daughters christening on Sunday, and I didn't want to post something so personal from someone else's life, but now I've found that there are four neutral photos: one of me and three of some food. So, I'm not that proud of tonight's post's quality, but at least it's something ;D
