Changes

I'm sorry for not having posted anything for a long time. It's because recently there have been many changes and things happening in my life, so I haven't had energy or time to post anything. Neither have I used my camera much, but today I took it for a walk in Rovaniemi, as you can see in pictures below (not the two first ones). I'll write about my life here later on, because not everyone in my real life know yet. On Friday I'll take a little vacations from everything and go hiking for a couple of days somewhere here in Lapland (:

Easter

I know I'm really late with these pictures now, but for my defence, summer vacations and First of May celebrations are really time consuming! I just remembered yesterday I still have some unseen pictures in my camera, and now I have to go find my graduate's hat (a Finnish tradition of First of May, and "hat" is probably not how it would be said in English :D) before the students' march and other happenings, so just the pictures this time. Happy First of May everyone!

Colors of the Sunset

I was planning to go to capture the blue moment that comes after the sunset, because here in these latitudes it is much more profound than in the south. Soon there will be no blue moment, when the sun takes over and hardly sets during the summer. But I had totally forgotten about the changing to the daylight saving time, so my own timing was one hour too early to sunset. Photographer has to be creative sometimes, because the place I went to doesn't look good during daytime because of many cables there are, but I figured I'd just take pictures of the beautiful colours of the sky and interesting forms of the clouds. This is photographing at its best I think, having to change your plans, but still getting something beautiful out of it!

The weird picture in the middle is an ice fishing hole that had frozen again after using.

Education and squirrel

I hate it how the world today is all about money. In Finland at least the education is free, but in many other places people are not that lucky: if the family doesn't have the money to put a child in a good school, there's no way they could go to good universities because of bad teaching at school and so on. At least in Chile it is so, I suppose something similar happens in many countries. It is just so wrong! I hate knowing that it won't change as long as there are greedy people deciding about everything, as they suppose a country needs the poor people to do the less comfortable jobs, and that by being without education they are easier to manipulate. I can't appreciate enough my own luck of being able to go to schools and to choose myself what to study, because everything from medical school to theater institutions are free here. I have written about work earlier, and I would just hate so much having to do something I didn't choose for the right reasons or that I simply didn't like but had to study because of lack of money.

This is also something where I would love to make a change with my pictures, but it would require travelling and in this materialistic world that would require money I don't have at the moment.

And here are the rest of yesterday's shooting! There was also this incredibly photogenic squirrel that you have to love.

I also decided to add in the bottom of the text a part where you can vote for your favourite picture of each post, even though I doubt it'll get many votes yet.
Vote for your favourite (or favourites) and I'll be happy knowing someone has checked this :D

Yellow spring

Here are some photos from today's bicycle ride! Again there are so many that I prefer publishing them as two posts. Also I tried to capture my protests for destroying nature in a couple of these, as the island is a natural reserve, but still you can find trash and oil in the water all over the place (more of that in tomorrow's post).

In the flower pictures I was playing with the focus point - it is interesting to see, how the same picture changes with different settings (:
